Chapter 18
Knocking on the door of his room I hear no answer. I knock again.
“Look behind you.”
I turn in fright. He walked within distance of me.
“Welcome to Fatty Burgers, can I take your order?” He said with a smile.
I ogle him briefly as the joke hits me. I want to hit him now as I realize the intent. But I need the gear first.
“Your burgers might be poison…look I need you to loan me your virtual gear.”
He stood still, actually he was much stiffer than he once was.
“If you could…” I continue.
“Ah…no.”
“Come on brother, my gear is broken. It is not working right now.” That and I could not use that gear when my father might still be tracking it.
“Wait…”
“Look are you helping me or not?”
“Why should I again?”
I let my arms fall as I stare daringly in his face.
“What, easy, it was a joke. Why not buy a new one? Loaning you mine will probably suck for you. You would want to go to your imaginary boyfriends online when I want to go kill a dragon.”
“I do not have imaginary boyfriends and I have no money to pay for one right now.” I said quite frustratingly.
Those gear setups were expensive, at five thousand dollars apiece, that was the cost of five really good computers. My mother bought gears for me and Rio a long time back. Dad never liked them then, he definitely does not like them now.
“Okay, you have enough to rent them then?”
I narrow my eyes at him.
“No, seriously, I mean I could forgo not playing Dark Breath for a small fee.” He smiled like a jovial monkey.
I sigh, let me see if I can manage it, “How much?”
“Fifty dollars per week.”
“…per…forget it.”
“Really? Come on, fifty dollars cannot hurt you.”
That was my whole weekly allowance, he specifically did that on purpose. Like I was born yesterday, I stalked off. It was a pain I was not going to be used to but I would have to stop playing this game for a while.
What was the longest I ever been without Everscape, not more than a week I think. I could do this for while but boredom is a thing that sets in quite readily and kills my entire positivity with fierce efficiency. As I talked with Alvain and Odin in the chat group Odin set up online I could not help but feel a tinge of sorrow.
Though what was I feeling that for? Alvain was decrying my inability to play the game with crying emojis. He probably was thinking his future would be dark as he would be the most likely to die without me there.
Odin gave me the regular rundown of jokes against Joshua and their failed quests. Oh they also got attacked and wiped out by some group named Gallivant Gang. Some small group looking to go up in the world, who better than my group that could barely put up a fight.
Still, with Golden Blaze, Saturn Curved, and The Kingdom of Pain being the three most powerful groups, the competition was high.
